The Declaration of Value is issued free of charge if you are completing enrollment at an Italian higher education institution that has already accepted you. Proof of admission is required.
In any other case, we require payment by money order. You can find the pertaining fees on the Consular Fee Table, under art. 66N (primary document) and art. 72 (certification of true translation, per document). Thus, a Declaration of Value that lists one diploma and one set of transcripts will pay art.66N+ (2 x art. 72).

Elementary School e Junior High School (I to VIII grade)
- application form for Declaration of Value;
- copy of Report card that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State ;
- if the report card does not specify that the student was admitted to the following grade, the Principal will have to sign a letter stating the above and his signature must be notarized and legalized with an Apostille;
- literal translation in Italian of the documents indicated at paragraph 2 and 3. Translations in Italian must maintain grades as the appear in the original documents (A,B,C or E, G, S, etc.);
- Copy of passport.
High School (IX to XII grade)
- application form for Declaration of Value;
- copy of DIPLOMA that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- copy of 4 Year Transcript that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- if the report card does not specify that the student was admitted to the following grade, the Principal will have to sign a letter stating the above and his signature must be notarized and legalized with an Apostille;

“Exchange Students”
Italian exchange students who after the year abroad re-enter the school in Italy must present to the Consulate the following documents:
- application form for Declaration of Value;
- copy of DIPLOMA that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- copy of Report Card that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- attendance certificate that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- honorary diploma (if issued);
- letter of the organizer of the exchange Program and, if in English, translation in Italian;
- literal translation in Italian of the documents indicated at paragraph 2 and 3. Translations must maintain grades as the appear in the original documents (A,B,C etc.);
- copy of passport.
RECOGNITION OF ACADEMIC DEGREE
Italian and foreign citizens who obtained a degree in a College or University located in this consular jurisdiction can request a Declaration of Value to this Office to have it recognized by an Italian University. The application must be presented to the President of the academic institution. It is important to make sure that the University offers courses similar to the ones completed in the US.
ASSOCIATE DEGREE
- application form for Declaration of Value;
- copy of DIPLOMA of ASSOCIATE DEGREE that the Registrar of the Community College signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- copy of transcript that the Registrar signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- copy of DIPLOMA of HIGH SCHOOL that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- copy of 4 Year Transcript that the Principal or Registrar of the high school signed before a Notary Public and legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- literal translation in Italian of the documents indicated at paragraph 2, 3, 4 and 5. Translations must maintain grades as the appear in the original documents (A,B,C etc.);

BACHELOR DEGREE

Find out whether the Italian University requires the description of courses. In this case often it is sufficient to download the Catalogue. Make sure that the courses match those listed in the transcripts. Students who obtained a Diploma in a secondary school in Italy must present a copy.
MASTER DEGREE

- copy of HIGH SCHOOL Diploma and of the 4 Year Transcript that the Principal or Registrar of the school signed before a Notary Public legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;

- copy of BACHELOR DIPLOMA and copy of Official Transcripts, that the Registrar of the attended academic institution signed before a Notary Public, legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- copy of HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA and copy of school report (4 Year Transcript), that the Principal or the Registrar of the attended school signed before a Notary Public, legalized with the Apostille of the Secretary of State;
- literal translation in Italian of the documents showed in the points 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Translations must report the votes exactly how they appear in original;
- copy of the Passport.
NB: it is necessary to verify if the Italian University asks for the description of the curriculum relative to the attended courses. In that case, the attended courses must be indicated and must correspond with the ones in the “transcript”. In presence of qualifications obtained in Italy, it is necessary to show a photocopy of it.
